Day Two Orientation

Day Two Orientation provides education for our new clinical employees in Roanoke and focuses on quality, safety and communication. This orientation is offered every other Tuesday.

Day Two Orientation Location-June 1, June 14, June 28 and July 12, 2016

Orientation on these dates will be held at the Holiday Inn Roanoke-Valley View, 3315 Ordway Drive, Roanoke, Va. 24017. View a map of this location.

Directions from I-581/U.S. 220:

• Take exit 3W for VA-101W/Hershberger Road.
• Merge onto VA-101W/Hershberger Road NW.
• Turn right onto Ordway Drive NW.

About Day Two Orientation

Orientation is typically held in the Sixth Floor Auditorium at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, 1906 Belleview Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24014. View a map of this location.

Registration is at 7:45 a.m. Orientation is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

Directions to Orientation Parking at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital:

From 220 South:

Continue North on US 220S/Interstate 581 to the Elm Avenue/Vinton exit (Exit 6).  Turn left onto Elm Avenue.  At the intersection of Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street (Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital is on your left), take a left onto Jefferson Street.  Go approximately 1 mile to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Reserve Avenue and make a left.  After crossing the train tracks, make an immediate left and park in the Riverwalk Extension Parking Garage which is adjacent to the Honeytree Early Learning Center.  From the parking garage, walk across the covered walkway to the main entrance of the hospital.  Take the bank of 6 elevators in the lobby to the 6th floor.  Follow the signs to the Auditorium.

From Interstate 81:

From I-81, take Exit 143 for I-581 S/US 220S toward Airport/Roanoke. What You'll Learn

The class content reflects many of the standards and guidelines provided by our regulatory agencies to provide clinical employees with some of the basic information and skills needed to provide high-quality, safe patient care.

The day two orientation program has been crafted to support the orientation needs of all clinical disciplines that have direct patient contact including:

• P.A.s, N.P.s, R.N.s, L.P.N.s, nursing assistants, clinical secretaries and technicians of all patient-care departments.
• Imaging services professionals and assistive staff who encounter patients.
• Respiratory therapists.
• Laboratory staff, such as phlebotomists, who have direct patient contact.
• Physical, occupational and speech therapy staff who interact with patients.
• Pharmacy staff who interact with patients or nurses.
