1. Keep confidential information secure
It's important to keep protected health information (PHI) and other confidential documents secure, especially when working remotely.
How? Recommendations include:
Always access confidential information electronically.
Do not print hard copies or screen capture protected information.
Secure Carilion devices even when you're at home.
Password protect your devices and lock your devices when leaving them unattended.
Store confidential or patient information on secure Carilion network drives.
Don’t store confidential information on removable media such as memory sticks or jump drives.
Make sure your anti-virus and firewall protection is up-to-date.
If you use a personal computer or device to access Carilion applications, be sure to get the latest updates for your antivirus software and activate your firewall protection.
2. Establish a check-in system with your manager
Work with your manager to determine what method of communication you would like to use and set an expectation about timing.
For example, you might send email twice a day:
- One in the morning with your plan for the day.
- One in the evening with what you accomplished.
Work with your manager to determine the best way for you to log your time.
