Employee Assistance Program

Carilion covers 100 percent of the cost for up to five sessions per year, per issue, with a licensed mental health professional.
           
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary, confidential service providing professional counseling and referral services designed to help you with your personal or job related challenges. Through short-term counseling, EAP can help you understand the options that are available for many issues that arise, such as:

• Emotional
• Familial
• Marital
• Job related
• Legal or financial
• Grief/loss
• Alcohol/substance abuse

To request support, please call 1-800-992-1931 or locally 540-981-8950 and you will be connected with an EAP consultant. In case of a crisis after regular business hours, call 540-981-8950 and follow the prompts, or call 540-981-7000 and ask to page the counselor on call.

If additional counseling services are recommended beyond the EAP visits, your EAP professional will refer you to the best resources in our communities. Your insurance benefits can be used to continue with the professional recommended to you. All EAP records are kept strictly confidential and are not maintained in EPIC. Although EAP is voluntary, if you are having performance problems at work, your manager may refer you to EAP. EAP records are not part of your personnel file.
